“Sunrise has been a great help to me and I've always felt very comfortable here. I've been very fortunate meeting a lot of nice people and the staff is always so nice and they go out of their way to help you. The management staff has also been good to me and I'm very happy to be here I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

They've taken such good care of me and made sure I have an apartment that helps with my handicaps. I love it very much - it's such a beautiful apartment.”

Family

Rick

“My mom and dad have been in this building since 2000. My father passed away in 2005 and my mother has been here on her own since then. From a family standpoint I am thorough impressed. There's a piece of mind where I know she's being well looked after. The sunrise staff that attend to her very extensive care have done a wonderful job. It takes a lot of stress off of me and my sister knowing that we don't have to worry. It's basically stress free. I've been asked many times about the facility and I can't think of a better place for her to be. She gets as good care here as she would in a nursing home with a one bedroom apartment - a much larger residence with the same level of care. As a son it's a total relief that I know she's being looked after 100%.”

“I worked here fourteen years as a superintendent and I loved the job but when I developed health problems that resulted in a leg amputation I had to retire. Sunrise as an employer provided me with good health benefits that made the early transition to retirement a sound financial step. As a housing provider they made my transition effortless and housed me here in an apartment with rent geared to income. I got to stay in the building surrounded by tenants and staff that had become my friends over the years. The central location is close to all the amenities that I can access like the mall, hospitals, and doctors. I'm very happy to be here.”

Please note: Sadly we lost our Rick in August 2014. Gone but never forgotten we would like to have his story remain here as he was such a big part of our community story.

“I've been here eight years and I find there are many, many things that I can now do that I would not have be able had I been living on my own. I would not have interacted with as many people since I've been a resident. I feel very fortunate to be part of Sunrise. The people here are generally outgoing, friendly, willing to help if you need help.

I play cards in the evening and occasionally I come down to the dining room. We are only one block from the seniors centre so there's plenty of activity.”
